The International Festival of Street Art and Artistic Craftsmanship, organized by a group of young Tolfetans with a strong passion for music and entertainment, was first held in 2005. In a matter of a few years, it has become one of the most important festivals in Europe.
In early August, for four days, Tolfa turns into a large open-air theatre; jugglers, trapeze artists, acrobats, actors and musicians invade the narrow alleys of Tolfa with sounds, lights and colours. One of a kind, this festival is now a reference point.
Indeed, over the years it has received several awards, including ‘Miglior Festival Emergente d’Italia (Best Emerging Festival in Italy)’ by the festival network Rete dei Festival (2011); the Official Sponsorship of EXPO MILAN 2015; ‘Best Practice’ by the global network Cittaslow International (2015); and ‘Buona pratica in ambito culturale (Best Cultural Practice)’ by the Lazio Region (2017).
TolfArte is twinned with the Kulturisten Festival in Nesodden (Oslo, Norway).
TolfArte is organized by the Tolfa Youth Community and the Culture Department of the Municipality of Tolfa.
